All about Media and Creative Jobs

We live in a time, when everyone wants to be famous. Everyone wants to be the next singing sensation, reality star or A-List Celebrity. As a result of the enthusiasm towards the media and creative industries, jobs are easy to find, but increasingly difficult to pin-down, with many applicants never even getting an interview despite years of hunting and sending off applications to find their dream job.

No one can question that gaining that all important first steps on the ladder to a career behind or in front of a camera are no easy task, but it is not impossible. Talent and a huge passion for what you do will get you a long way, especially if you can turn that passion into a creative way of coming across.

There are many routes into the media, from starting right down at the bottom as an intern or “runner”, making tea and running errands for Directors etc. If you’re keen to work in front of the camera, attending Drama School or similar is always a huge advantage, and if you can get a place in an established School, you’re even more likely to be taken seriously. Many positions may be helped by a degree in a relevant area, such as Journalism, Professional Writing, Performing Arts or even Marketing or Business if you’re looking to work very behind the scenes.
