All about Marketing Jobs

It is imperative that you completely understand the difference between advertising and marketing, as they are completely different, so it’s important that you make the move towards what you really want to do, rather than making the horrible mistake of getting wrong.

In advertising, an individual or company are commissioned solely to create something specific, such as a poster, a television advert, or perhaps a feature in a magazine. That advertising, however, will form part of a much larger “marketing plan”, that could include press samples, interviews, TV spots and of course the advertising. This detailed plan is organised within the Marketing Sector who take a product and plan every aspect of promotion from creation to selling advertising and products to buyers (and sellers).

Breaking into marketing is incredibly tough, because so many people want to work with leading brands to promote them. So, the key is being able to prove that you are the best person to understand a brand and how to promote it effectively. Holding a relevant marketing degree will always work in your favour, as will marketing-based work experience? Generally, as long as the experience was within a marketing department, it probably won’t matter if the company was not specifically based in the area.
