All About Accountancy Jobs

Organisations need professionals who understand finance. Accountancy is a great career choice, enabling people to work their way to the very top of an organisation with the right professional accountancy qualification.

The first thing to know about the accountancy profession is that you do not need a degree to become an accountant. The work of an accountant is detailed, suiting numerate people with a keen eye for detail. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) offer courses and certification that businesses are often keen to put interested people through, regardless of age or background.

Learning and working often happen simultaneously. To build a career as a finance professional there are entry level courses which require little or no work experience to enter, right the way through to professional status. The latter requires success in 14 exams (most are eligible for exemptions), a Professional Ethics module and practical experience, usually spread over 3 to 4 years. There are several qualifications which can be obtained along the way: Diploma in Accounting and Business, Advanced Diploma, B Sc in Applied Accounting.
